The Cleveland Guardians have made a significant trade, sending first baseman/designated hitter Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks. In return, the Guardians receive right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi and a competitive balance Round B draft pick.
Naylor, who had a strong season with 31 home runs and 108 RBIs, leaves a gap in the Guardians' lineup that will be challenging to fill. Kyle Manzardo is expected to step in as the new full-time first baseman.
This move comes as the Diamondbacks look to replace Christan Walker, who recently signed with the Houston Astros. The Guardians may still be active in the trade market, with Lane Thomas possibly next on the move.
