Kerry Carpenter's grand slam brought the Tigers within a run, but Chicago's four-run seventh inning sealed the game. Despite the loss, Detroit finished with a winning record for the first time since 2016, while the White Sox concluded their season with a record-setting 121 losses.

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf labeled the season as a failure, and the team is set to regroup for spring training against the Cubs.
