Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber will have season-ending Tommy John elbow surgery. The 2020 Cy Young winner felt pain following an opening-day start and chose surgery after imaging tests. Bieber, a great teammate and leader, is devastated by the news. His recovery time can be up to 16 months.

Despite pitching 12 scoreless innings with 20 strikeouts, the discomfort in his elbow only worsened. Bieber's surgery will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas. The Guardians will now rely on others to step up in Bieber's absence to continue winning games in the AL Central.
