Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Michael Grove is set to miss the upcoming MLB season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. This 28-year-old right-hander, who has seen action in parts of the last three seasons, posted a 4-4 record with a 5.02 ERA in 2022, striking out 54 batters in 51 innings over 39 games. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Grove had been managing shoulder pain since last season and expressed concern over his commitment to pitching through the injury.
Grove expressed disappointment over needing another surgery, having previously undergone Tommy John surgery. Despite his efforts to continue pitching, the injury compromised both his performance and recovery. Drafted in the second round by the Dodgers in 2018 after his collegiate career at West Virginia, Grove’s absence will be felt in the Dodgers' rotation, as they look to maintain competitiveness in the upcoming season.
