Gavin Lux has been traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Cincinnati Reds just days after the Dodgers secured infielder Hyeseong Kim with a three-year, $12.5 million deal. In exchange, the Dodgers receive minor league outfielder Mike Sirota and a competitive balance pick in the upcoming amateur draft.
Lux, who earned $1,225,000 last year, previously missed the entire 2023 season due to a torn ACL. He made 117 starts at second base in 2024, batting .251 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs. The 27-year-old was part of the Dodgers' championship teams in 2020 and 2024.
In light of this trade, the Dodgers are adapting their lineup, planning to utilize Mookie Betts at shortstop and considering Chris Taylor and Tommy Edman for second base duties, alongside Kim. Meanwhile, the Reds anticipate Lux contributing across several positions.
