The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed two-time All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal to a one-year contract worth $2.5 million. The deal is pending Grandal passing a physical. The Pirates are adding depth at catcher due to Endy Rodríguez being ruled out for 2024 after Tommy John surgery. Pittsburgh remains optimistic about rookie Henry Davis potentially becoming an everyday catcher. In addition to Grandal, the Pirates have also signed pitchers Wily Peralta, Connor Sadzeck, and Brent Honeywell on minor league contracts for depth.
