The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with two-time All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal on a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Grandal will join the team's catching situation that includes Henry Davis, Jason Delay, and Ali Sanchez.
Grandal, a career .237 hitter, has played for four teams across 12 seasons, most recently with the Chicago White Sox. He hit .234 with eight home runs and 33 RBIs in 118 games in 2023.
With Grandal's addition, the Pirates gain flexibility as they continue to develop Davis, who spent the majority of his rookie season in right field.
