The Milwaukee Brewers have made a strategic move by acquiring right-handed pitcher Grant Anderson from the Texas Rangers in exchange for minor league left-hander Mason Molina. This transaction comes on the heels of the Rangers designating Anderson for assignment earlier this week.
Anderson, 27, had a challenging season with Texas, posting an 8.10 ERA and one save across 23 relief outings. Despite his struggles in the majors, he demonstrated his potential while playing for Triple-A Round Rock, achieving a 3-0 record with a 2.93 ERA in 26 appearances.
Mason Molina, the 21-year-old pitcher traded to Texas, was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 amateur draft. He had a promising stint in the minors, striking out six batters in five shutout innings for Class A Carolina last season.
To accommodate Anderson on their 40-man roster, the Brewers designated left-hander Tyler Jay for assignment. Jay, who had a brief tenure with both the Brewers and New York Mets, finished last season with a 4.70 ERA over five appearances.
