The Texas Rangers faced challenges in their title defense during the 2024 season, but not all was lost. Right-handed reliever Kirby Yates had an outstanding year, achieving a remarkable 1.17 ERA and striking out 85 batters in his 10th season. Yates also represented the Rangers at the MLB All-Star Game held in Arlington.
As he heads into free agency, it remains uncertain whether Yates will return for the 2025 season. Meanwhile, former Colleyville Heritage standout Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals earned recognition by making the All-MLB First Team and winning the Silver Slugger award.
