The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired catcher Tyler Heineman from the Boston Red Sox, while also designating catcher Brian Serven for assignment.

Heineman, 33, has previously played for the Blue Jays and had the majority of this season at Triple-A Worcester. He made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins in 2019 and has played a total of 106 big-league games.

Serven had a challenging season, batting .159 over 28 games for Toronto.
