The New York Mets have reportedly made a substantial initial contract offer of $660 million to superstar outfielder Juan Soto, according to MLB Insider Hector Gomez and former player Carlos Baerga.
This puts pressure on the Toronto Blue Jays, who are also interested in Soto, to match or exceed the Mets' offer. The Blue Jays aim to create a formidable lineup with Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
As the bidding war heats up, the Mets, backed by owner Steve Cohen's financial resources, may prove difficult to outbid.
