Joey Meneses, the Nationals first baseman, was optioned to Triple-A Rochester, ending his two-year run with the team. He had a memorable big league debut at age 30, but his power has dipped this season. Meneses homered in his debut and had a solid rookie season, but his performance declined this year.
Eddie Rosario also became a free agent for the Nationals after clearing waivers. Rosario was designated for assignment earlier in the week.
