The Philadelphia 76ers have signed David Roddy to a 10-day contract, as announced by President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey. Following this move, Roddy is expected to be assigned to the Delaware Blue Coats. The 76ers aimed to bolster their roster with experience, especially after trading their 23rd overall pick and veteran Danny Green to acquire De'Anthony Melton from the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2022 NBA Draft, where Roddy was selected out of Colorado State.
Roddy's collegiate career showed promise, averaging 16 points and seven rebounds in his junior year. His transition to the NBA featured ups and downs, with a solid contribution of seven points and three rebounds per game in his inaugural season with Memphis. Following a trade to the Phoenix Suns, and then to the Atlanta Hawks, Roddy’s journey has been marked by instability as he was waived mid-season. Now, with an opportunity to showcase his skills in the G League, Roddy aims to prove his worth and secure a long-term role with the Sixers.
