The Detroit Pistons are reportedly pursuing a trade for Miles Bridges, who was previously signed by the Charlotte Hornets to a three-year, $75 million contract. Bridges, hailing from Flint, Michigan, would return to his hometown team, strengthening the Pistons as they aim for a playoff berth. In this proposed deal, the Pistons would send Tim Hardaway Jr. and a 2029 first-round pick to the Hornets in exchange for Bridges and a 2025 second-round pick.
This trade allows the Pistons to enhance their roster while shedding the burdensome Bridges contract from Charlotte's books. As they move towards a better position, the Hornets would benefit from Hardaway's expiring contract, thereby clearing $16.2 million in cap space next season. Although the trade might leave the Hornets slightly weakened in the short term, it aligns with their long-term strategy.
