Ayo Dosunmu's promising season with the Chicago Bulls has taken an unfortunate turn as he will miss the remainder of the year due to a shoulder fracture that had persisted unnoticed for over a year. The injury, first sustained during a game against the New York Knicks on February 20, was exacerbated during his attempted return against the Toronto Raptors. Following an MRI, it was confirmed that Dosunmu will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and requires a recovery period of four to six months.
This season, Dosunmu had been making strides, averaging career highs of 12.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. With the Bulls' current struggles reflected in their 24-37 record, ranking 10th in the Eastern Conference, Dosunmu's absence is a significant blow as the team searches for a playoff berth for the first time in nearly a decade. He expressed pride in his performance despite the injuries, indicating a strong desire to return to form for the next training camp.
