The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Quincy Olivari, a promising undrafted rookie out of Xavier, according to reports from HoopsHype and NBA insiders. Olivari had been performing well in the G League, averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game with the South Bay Lakers. However, the Lakers have decided to fill his roster spot by signing Trey Jemison, a former center for the New Orleans Pelicans, to a two-way contract.
Despite his impressive collegiate statistics, which included an average of 19.1 points and 5.6 rebounds during his final season at Xavier, Olivari's draft prospects were hampered by his age. At 23, he went undrafted but quickly made a name for himself in the G League, showcasing notable shooting from beyond the arc. D'Angelo Russell, a former Lakers player, even commented on Olivari's skills, suggesting he seemed too talented for the G League.
