In a tightly contested matchup, the Miami Heat edged out the Houston Rockets with a score of 104-100, highlighted by a dramatic final minute that saw tempers flare and multiple ejections. Tyler Herro was a standout performer for Miami, contributing 27 points in the victory. However, the game took a chaotic turn when a physical altercation broke out with just 35 seconds remaining, resulting in the ejection of six individuals, including Herro and Houston's Amen Thompson.
The incident unfolded as Thompson tackled Herro to the ground, prompting players and coaches from both teams to rush onto the court in defense of their teammates. Along with Herro and Thompson, Rockets guard Jalen Green, head coach Ime Udoka, and assistant coach Ben Sullivan were also ejected. Miami's Terry Rozier joined the list of those thrown out of the game.
Prior to the ejections, the Rockets had a brief lead at 92-85, courtesy of a layup from Fred VanVleet. However, Houston's offense faltered, missing 11 consecutive shots, which allowed Miami to claw back into the game. Herro's timely 3-pointer assisted by Haywood Highsmith tied the game, and his jumper in the closing moments secured the win for the Heat. VanVleet's frustration boiled over in the last minute as he was ejected after making contact with referee Marc Davis, following a controversial 5-second violation call.
