The Milwaukee Bucks have announced a notable shift in their starting lineup, removing star forward Khris Middleton. This decision was revealed by NBA insider Chris Haynes, who reported that head coach Doc Rivers met with Middleton to discuss the change. The adjustment aims to establish continuity in the starting group while managing Middleton's limited playing time as he recovers from double ankle surgery.
Middleton has thus far played in 12 games this season, averaging 12.7 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in roughly 24 minutes per game. He did not participate in the recent game against the Toronto Raptors due to ankle tendinitis. With Middleton sidelined, Taurean Prince will step into the starting role as the Bucks prepare for their upcoming game against the San Antonio Spurs.
Rivers' decision comes as Milwaukee seeks to improve its performance, having started the season with a record of 4-9 during Middleton's absence. Since his return, the team has shown signs of improvement, but they have still struggled recently, losing two of their last three games. As they aim for their 19th win of the season, the Bucks are hopeful that this lineup change will help them regain their earlier momentum in the Eastern Conference.
