Tristen Newton, the standout guard from UConn, continues to impress in the NBA G League despite his struggles to find footing in the NBA. In a recent game, Newton scored 27 points, dished out six assists, and grabbed five rebounds in 39 minutes of play, even as his team, the Iowa Wolves, suffered a 126-105 loss to the Westchester Knicks.

Newton has put up solid averages of 17.4 points, 6.9 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game this season in the G League. Drafted 49th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2024, he faced early challenges, appearing in just five games before being waived. He was quickly picked up by the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he has a chance to earn a more permanent spot if he continues his strong performance.
