The Orlando Magic have been dealt a significant injury setback as forward Moritz Wagner has been diagnosed with a season-ending ACL tear. The injury was confirmed following an MRI, and Wagner will undergo surgery, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
This injury adds to the Magic's woes, as key players Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are already out with torn obliques. Banchero's injury occurred in late October, while Franz's was sustained earlier this month.
Wagner's injury happened during a recent game against the Miami Heat, where he played just a minute and a half before leaving the court. Despite his limited playing time this season, he has been a crucial contributor off the bench, averaging nearly 13 points per game.
With both Wagner brothers and Banchero out, the Magic may struggle to maintain their position in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting at 18-12. They recently reached the semifinals of the NBA Cup but were eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks.
