The San Antonio Spurs have announced that rookie forward Riley Minix will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The injury, sustained on January 1 during a game with the Austin Spurs against the Iowa Wolves, required successful surgery this past Tuesday.
Before his injury, Minix showcased impressive performance in the G League, averaging 19.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. His versatility and scoring ability drew praise from Austin Spurs coach Scott King, who noted Minix's capability to score from various ranges and facilitate plays. Having played at both Southeastern University and Morehead State, Minix made history as the first NBA player from the NAIA after signing a two-way contract with the Spurs.
