Calgary Flames forward Conor Zary is sidelined indefinitely following a knee-on-knee collision with Anaheim Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson during a recent game. Fortunately, Zary does not require surgery for the injury, but the Flames have confirmed he will begin an immediate rehabilitation process.
Zary's performance this season has been notable, as he ranks fourth on the team with 10 goals and 12 assists across 40 games. The 23-year-old, who was drafted by the Flames in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, demonstrated impressive skill last season as well, recording 14 goals and 20 assists in 63 games.
To fill the gap left by Zary’s absence, the Flames have called up center Rory Kerins from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers. The team will be monitoring Zary’s recovery closely as they aim to keep their playoff hopes alive.
