Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary is set to miss an indefinite amount of time due to a knee injury sustained in a recent game against the Anaheim Ducks. The injury occurred during a second-period collision with Ducks defenceman Drew Helleson, who received a major penalty for the incident. Although Zary does not require surgery, he will begin rehabilitation immediately, as confirmed by the Flames.
Coach Ryan Huska acknowledged Zary's contributions to the team, noting his impressive performance this season, where he recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in 40 games. Zary has been instrumental in generating offensive opportunities and was a key player on the power play, making his absence a significant blow to the Flames. In response to his injury, the Flames called up Rory Kerins from the AHL's Calgary Wranglers, where Kerins has been a standout with 21 goals this season.
