Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine is sidelined for two to three months due to a sprained left knee, following a collision in a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Fortunately, surgery is not required for Laine.
In a separate injury update, rookie defenseman David Reinbacher will be out for five to six months after knee surgery. Laine's recent trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets had raised hopes for the Canadiens, who have struggled to reach the playoffs in recent seasons.
