Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers has been suspended for eight games following a dangerous hit on Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars, deemed a violation of multiple NHL rules. This suspension marks Rempe as a repeat offender, having previously served a four-game suspension for elbowing.
As a result of the suspension, Rempe will forfeit $80,000, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. Heiskanen, who was injured in the incident, managed to finish the game.
