The Montreal Canadiens have placed forward Alex Barré-Boulet on waivers to facilitate a loan to the AHL's Laval Rocket. Other NHL teams have until noon Monday to claim him, or he will join Laval. Barré-Boulet, who signed a one-year contract worth $775,000 this summer, had a notable AHL season last year with the Syracuse Crunch, finishing second in scoring.
He played two games with the Canadiens this season before being a healthy scratch. The Rocket recently lost to the Springfield Thunderbirds but had a strong opening win against the Providence Bruins. The Canadiens are set to face the Pittsburgh Penguins next.
