The Detroit Red Wings have placed goaltender Ville Husso on waivers, allowing other NHL teams the opportunity to claim him. If he goes unclaimed, Husso could be assigned to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.
In his season debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Husso struggled, allowing four goals on 14 shots before being replaced by Cam Talbot, who later achieved a shutout against the Nashville Predators. Coach Derek Lalonde noted that the team needed to free up a roster spot due to injuries to other players.
