The New York Rangers have secured winger Alexis Lafrenière with a seven-year contract extension valued at $52.15 million. This deal will see Lafrenière's cap hit at $7.45 million annually, starting next NHL season.

Coming off a career-best season with 28 goals and 57 points, Lafrenière is currently maintaining a strong performance with seven points in his first seven games this season. The Rangers are also facing the challenge of re-signing goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who is set to become a free agent next summer.
