Ottawa Senators’ Nick Cousins has been fined $2,083.33 for elbowing Buffalo Sabres’ Jacob Bryson during a game on January 9, 2025. This is the maximum fine permitted by the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement, and the amount will be directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred early in the third period of the Senators’ match against the Sabres, which ended in a decisive 4-0 victory for Buffalo. Cousins, who has five goals and seven assists in 38 games this season, received a minor penalty for the elbowing infraction.
Currently, the Senators are struggling, having lost four consecutive games and holding a record of 19-18-3 as they aim to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
