Marc Staal, ex-defender for the Philadelphia Flyers, has announced his retirement from the NHL at age 37. He is set to join the New York Rangers as a player development assistant.
Staal's final season included 35 games with the Flyers, where he contributed one goal and five points. With a notable 17-year NHL career, he played 1,136 games, amassing 53 goals and 234 points.
