With two years remaining on his $5.9 million contract, his high salary cap hit complicates his chances of being claimed by another team. Grubauer previously played as a key figure in the Washington Capitals' 2018 Stanley Cup win and was a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2021 while with the Colorado Avalanche.
