Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs has been placed on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury, retroactive to November 3. This will keep him out for at least two games, including matchups against the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens.
Head coach Craig Berube noted that Matthews' injury is day-to-day and unrelated to past wrist surgeries. Despite a slow start this season, Matthews remains a key player for the Leafs, who are looking to improve their record in his absence.
