The Vancouver Canucks faced a tough defeat against the Edmonton Oilers, losing 7-3 in their first matchup of the 2024-25 season.

Despite a strong performance from Elias Pettersson, who scored and assisted, the Canucks struggled defensively, allowing multiple goals in a short span during the third period. Kevin Lankinen, in goal for Vancouver, recorded his first regulation loss after being overwhelmed by the Oilers' offensive onslaught.

Vancouver's next challenge is against the Calgary Flames, continuing their rivalry with another Alberta team.
