Neal Pionk of the Winnipeg Jets has been fined $5,000 by the NHL for clipping Florida Panthers forward Jesper Boqvist during a recent game. The incident occurred in the third period of the Jets' 5-0 defeat to the Panthers.
As Boqvist passed the puck, Pionk delivered a hip check that sent Boqvist spinning before he fell to the ice. Although Boqvist remained down for a while, Pionk did not receive a penalty at the time. The fine is the maximum permitted under the league's collective bargaining agreement.
