The Minnesota Twins have claimed minor league pitcher Eiberson Castellano from the Philadelphia Phillies in the Rule 5 Draft. The 23-year-old right-hander, who was named the Phillies' minor league pitcher of the year for 2024, will need to stay on the Twins' active roster throughout the 2025 season to remain with the organization.
Castellano had a strong season, posting a 3.99 ERA and leading all Phillies minor leaguers with 136 strikeouts. Twins GM Jeremy Zoll expressed optimism about his potential, noting his impressive fastball and curveball.
Additionally, the Twins signed former prospect Huascar Ynoa to a minor league contract. Ynoa, who has not pitched in the majors since 2022 due to injury, will join the team for spring training. The Twins are also looking to bolster their bullpen with a left-handed reliever.
