Machado recorded his 40th career multihomer game after hitting a two-run drive and a three-run shot. Tanner Houck struggled for the Red Sox with a career-worst eight runs given up.

The Padres secured their second series win in nine tries against the Red Sox in their Fenway matchup. Padres took control with a big fifth inning scoring six runs.
