Richard Fitts of the Boston Red Sox has made history by becoming only the second pitcher in Major League Baseball to start his career with three consecutive scoreless outings of five or more innings. The 24-year-old right-hander achieved this milestone on Friday against the Minnesota Twins, throwing five shutout innings with three strikeouts.

Fitts' journey began with an impressive 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his debut versus the Chicago White Sox and continued with another stellar five-inning performance against the New York Yankees, a team that originally drafted him in 2021.

The Boston Red Sox made headlines by signing pitcher Rich Hill on Aug. 17, marking his return to the team for an eighth time.

After a break to coach youth baseball, Hill became the oldest active player in Major League Baseball at 44 years old. However, his feel-good return was short-lived as the Red Sox designated him for assignment after only four games, signaling the end of his latest stint with the organization.

In his place, the Red Sox called up right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero to join the major league squad.

The Boston Red Sox have promoted top pitching prospect Luis Guerrero to their roster ahead of a series against the Chicago White Sox.

Guerrero, a 24-year-old right-hander, has excelled at Triple-A Worcester, boasting a 3.31 ERA with impressive strikeout numbers. He comes in to help turn around a struggling Red Sox team currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

To make space for Guerrero, veteran pitcher Rich Hill has been designated for assignment.
