Liam Hendriks is back on the mound for the Boston Red Sox after a challenging journey that included battling cancer and undergoing Tommy John surgery. The three-time All-Star, who previously played for the Chicago White Sox, missed most of 2023 and 2024 but has now been activated from the injured list. This will mark his first appearance since June 9, 2023.

Hendriks, 36, initially returned to baseball following a successful treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, receiving a warm welcome in his first game back. However, his comeback was short-lived, as he faced elbow issues that required surgery. Now, wearing his old White Sox number 31, he aims to help the struggling Red Sox, currently sitting at 11-10, seek their first playoff berth since 2021.
