It took nearly half the season, but the Blue Jays have been swept. Fitting beautifully into the arc of the 2024 season so far, the three-game sweep came against a team the Jays could have passed in the standings. Now trailing Boston by 4 1/2 games for third in the American League East, the Jays had their chances but couldn't come through.
The Red Sox opened the scoring with Romy González and Enmanuel Valdez homering. The Jays tied the game in the fourth but ultimately lost 7-3. There was a missed opportunity in the 7th inning for a comeback but fell short. Jarren Duran's homer broke the tie for good in the fifth.
