The Chicago Cubs have made significant roster changes, cutting former closer Adbert Alzolay following his Tommy John surgery. Alzolay, who is expected to miss most of the 2025 season, struggled with injuries and performance this year, finishing with a 4.67 ERA in 18 games.
Alongside Alzolay, minor league outfielder Brennen Davis was also designated for assignment. The Cubs have selected contracts for outfielder Owen Caissie and infielder Ben Cowles from their minor league affiliates.
