The Chicago Cubs are getting closer to having Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki return from injury. Bellinger is ahead of Suzuki in recovery as they go through baseball activities. Suzuki hurt his oblique running to first base, so he needs to work on his running before returning.

The team has struggled offensively without their stars, with minor league slugger Matt Mervis sent back down after poor performance. Infielder Patrick Wisdom will fill the designated hitter role until Bellinger and Suzuki return next week.
