The Chicago Cubs have bolstered their bullpen by recalling right-handed pitcher Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa ahead of their game against the Oakland Athletics.
Palencia's return follows the decision to option Trey Wingenter back to Iowa after his limited innings in a recent victory. Chicago is chasing a Wildcard spot in the National League and hopes that Palencia can provide additional support as they prepare to face the Athletics.
The Cubs will also have Jordan Wicks on the mound for the second game of the series.
