The Arizona Diamondbacks have made a significant move by acquiring All-Star first baseman Josh Naylor from the Cleveland Guardians. In exchange, the Guardians received right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi and a 2025 draft pick.
Naylor, who hit a career-high 31 home runs with 108 RBIs last season, is set to become a free agent after 2025. This trade comes after the Diamondbacks sought a replacement for Christian Walker, who recently signed with the Houston Astros.
The Guardians wasted no time in finding a replacement for Naylor, agreeing to terms with veteran Carlos Santana on a one-year deal. Santana, a former Guardian, is expected to fill the first base position.
