The Cleveland Guardians are sending Triston McKenzie to the minors to work out his pitching problems. McKenzie has struggled and hasn't gone past the third inning in his last three starts. The team activated right-hander Gavin Williams to take McKenzie's spot. Williams, who was recovering from an injury, will likely be on a pitch count for now.
Chris Antonetti, the team's president of baseball operations, mentioned that the Guardians could be looking to add another starter before the trade deadline. Veteran left-hander Matthew Cook was signed, but won't be ready to join the rotation until August after Tommy John surgery last year.
