The New York Mets have bolstered their roster by trading for infielder/outfielder Eddy Alvarez from the Boston Red Sox, sending an unspecified return back to Boston.
Prior to the trade, Alvarez had been performing well at Triple-A Worcester, recording a .247 batting average with 18 home runs over 114 games. Although his major league stats show limited success, he brings versatile defensive skills, having played multiple infield and outfield positions in previous seasons.
