The Minnesota Twins have signed infielder Armando Alvarez to a minor league contract, including an invitation to their major league spring training camp. This move comes just a month before pitchers and catchers report for the upcoming season.
Alvarez, who played 16 games for the Oakland Athletics last year, is looking to make an impact as he joins the Twins. In his brief major league stint, he recorded a .243 batting average with nine hits and two RBIs. His notable performance came in the minor leagues last season, where he thrived in the Pacific Coast League, achieving a .315 batting average with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs over 74 games.
