Suarez started the season as the Padres' closer, earning 10 saves in March and April, tying for the major-league lead with Helsley. He had an impressive first half, posting a 1.48 ERA and converting 23 of 26 save opportunities. However, his performance declined in the latter part of the season, with a 5.24 ERA and three blown saves in August and September. Despite this, he rebounded in the playoffs with three scoreless outings and two saves. Heading into the next season, Suarez is likely to be drafted as a premium closer, but concerns about his late-season struggles and strikeout rate could present some risk.
