The Seattle Mariners have bolstered their infield by acquiring Miles Mastrobuoni from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for cash. The 29-year-old infielder struggled last season, batting .194 with four RBIs across 50 games for the Cubs. Mastrobuoni is versatile, capable of playing second base, third base, shortstop, and corner outfield positions.
To create space for Mastrobuoni on their 40-man roster, the Mariners designated catcher Nick Raposo for assignment. Raposo, 26, was previously claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays in December. Mastrobuoni made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2022, recording a career .219 batting average with one home run, nine RBIs, and 16 stolen bases in 118 games.
