The Houston Astros are in advanced discussions to sign free agent first baseman Christian Walker, a notable addition to their roster. Although no agreement has been reached yet, talks are progressing.
Walker, 33, is a top-tier first baseman, having won three consecutive NL Gold Gloves with the Arizona Diamondbacks and hitting 95 home runs over the last three seasons. Despite an injury this past season, he managed to hit 26 home runs and maintain a strong OPS-plus.
If signed, Walker would likely take over first base, allowing Isaac Paredes to shift to third, potentially signaling the end of Alex Bregman's tenure with the team. Walker's age may limit the length of his contract, which could be appealing to the Astros.
