St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment after suffering a left forearm injury in May. The 32-year-old three-time All-Star has been making progress with batting practice sessions in St. Louis over the weekend.

St. Louis Cardinals placed right-hander Kyle Gibson on the bereavement list and called up Ryan Loutos from Triple-A Memphis. Gibson's return is expected for his next start Wednesday at Miami.
